This private residence is located on a block just over 700m2 in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, on a street that showcases an eclectic mix of both modern and traditional Queensland character homes. The design responds accordingly, utilising elements of surprise as a key design driver. These ‘elements of surprise’ translate physically to large solid leaf sliding panels and other obscure openings which invite the inhabitants to partake in the act of revealing and framing the idyllic views. Not only did this provide a higher level of thinking which elevated the necessity for blinds and curtains, it also added an extra level of privacy from their adjoining neighbours.

A simple material palette of crisp whites, warm wood tones, and the accents of a dark feature colour runs harmoniously throughout the whole house, inside and out.
